Today we bring you a very simple and very effective trick to keep your washing machine and dishwasher in good condition . With three very simple ingredients you will clean your appliances thoroughly without using products packaged in plastic .
The washing machine and dishwasher need to be cleaned regularly to ensure they work properly and to avoid bad smells . It will depend on how much and how you use them, but, in general, the washing machine can do with a once-over every 50 washes; and the dishwasher, which I use a lot, I give a deep clean once a month, more or less.
WHAT DO YOU NEED
As always, basic ingredients for green cleaning. We are pleased to have a few products that are very versatile and offer a lot of cleaning solutions for all areas of the house. And, of course, without plastic packaging . In this case, we are going to use:
- Vinegar : can be wine vinegar, apple vinegar or white vinegar. The one we have at Alma Eko is vegan (other cleaning vinegars use animal bones) and has a citrus aroma.
- Baking soda : a non-toxic cleaning essential. It can be used for a multitude of things. When it comes into contact with vinegar, an effervescent reaction occurs that makes it easier to remove embedded dirt.
- Lemon essential oil : not only will it provide a fresh citrus aroma, but we will also benefit from its cleaning properties, as it is a powerful degreaser, antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal.
HOW TO GET A DEEP CLEANSE
The appliance must be completely empty . Remove and empty the filters and re-insert them. Spread vinegar generously throughout the interior of the washing machine or dishwasher. In the latter case, pour a good splash on the filter part. Also, with a brush you can remove any residue you find in localized areas: drawer, rails, wheels, etc.
Put 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 5-10 drops of lemon essential oil into the detergent compartment .
Use the shortest program that allows for high temperature washing , at least 60º.
And that's it ! When you're done, you'll see that the interior is very clean and shiny . Repeat these steps periodically to ensure that your appliances are cleaned properly and kept in optimal condition.
