Natural water filter handcrafted in Japan from Binchotan activated charcoal. It improves the taste of tap water, helps reduce chlorine odor, and is a sustainable alternative to bottled water. Reusable, biodegradable, and Zero Waste.
    DETAILS

Enjoy better-tasting water naturally, sustainably, and without generating plastic waste, thanks to Binchotan charcoal, the traditional Japanese water filter used for centuries.

Binchotan is an activated charcoal handcrafted from Ubamegashi oak branches, a highly dense wood native to Japan. Its manufacturing process follows an ancestral method of carbonization and activation in a traditional oven, resulting in an extremely porous charcoal with extraordinary absorption capacity.

When placed in a pitcher or bottle with tap water, its millions of micropores help retain certain impurities responsible for the water's bad taste and odor, such as chlorine, significantly improving the drinking experience.

It is an ecological and long-lasting alternative to bottled water and many conventional filtration systems. Furthermore, at the end of its useful life, it can be reused at home or composted, making it a truly Zero Waste solution.

Each piece is handcrafted in Japan by experts who keep this traditional know-how alive, guaranteeing a high-quality and highly effective product.

If you are looking for a simple way to reduce plastic waste, improve the taste of your water, and adopt more sustainable habits, Binchotan charcoal is an excellent option for your daily life.

    Biodegradable, zero waste, and vegan.

    INSTRUCTIONS AND CARE

    Maintenance

    • Boil the charcoal for approximately 10 minutes once a month to clean and reactivate it.
    • Allow it to dry completely before reusing.
    • Its usual lifespan is between 3 and 6 months, depending on water quality and frequency of use.

Additional tips: handle the stick with clean hands, do not leave the stick in the same water for more than 48 hours.

If not in use, let it dry and store it in an airtight container.

To ensure continuously filtered water, use at least two sticks in two different pitchers alternately.

    Use only with potable water.

    Binchotan's Second Life

When it is no longer effective for filtering water, you can continue to use it in many ways:

As a moisture absorbent in wardrobes.

As a natural odor remover in shoes, drawers, or the refrigerator.

As an additive for compost or substrates.

As a natural humidity regulator in enclosed spaces.

    frequently asked questions

    Do you have any certification?

ACENE Certification (Association for Organic and Natural Cosmetics): guarantees that the raw plant materials are organic, do not use animal testing, and do not contain petrochemicals such as parabens, silicones, or phthalates. They are Ecocert/Biorganic.

Ingredients from organic, traditional or wild cultivation, including the use of sustainable plant-based alcohol

100% natural formulas, free of parabens, phthalates, synthetic preservatives, and artificial fragrances; essential oils and sometimes fresh plant parts are used inside the bottle.

Vegan and Cruelty-Free Certification: They have been designed to be suitable for vegans and are not tested on animals.

Sustainable packaging: glass containers with aluminum closures, reduced or eliminated plastics, and outer packaging based on corn starch, which is recyclable and ozone-friendly.

    Do you have samples?

Yes, we have 2ml vials so you can try them and decide which one you like best.

How should I use the products to see results?

When you decide to switch to a natural skincare routine, your skin may need some time to adjust. During the first few days or weeks, it's common to experience a "detox" phase where your skin eliminates residue from previous products. This process may include mild breakouts or changes in texture, but it's a sign that your skin is returning to its natural balance.

    Tips for a smooth transition:

    • Introduce products gradually: Start with just one product and wait at least two weeks before adding another. This allows your skin to adjust without feeling overwhelmed.
    • Be patient and consistent: Visible results usually appear between 2 and 4 weeks, as the skin renews itself approximately every 28 days.
    • Listen to your skin: If you experience irritation or dryness, you may need to adjust your frequency of use or combine products with proper moisturizer.

Remember, with a little patience and consistency, your skin will get used to natural skin, and you'll enjoy its long-term benefits. 🌿✨

Are the containers reusable or recyclable?

At Alma Eko, we work to ensure that all our products arrive in plastic-free packaging whenever possible , using recycled, recyclable, or even reusable materials. 🌱 For example, it wouldn't be unusual to receive your order in a reused box , thus giving the materials a second life.

In some cases, due to regulations or product safety , certain parts may be made of plastic, but we always strive to minimize their use . This way, you can enjoy your favorite products while caring for your skin and respecting the planet . 💚
