Endocrine disruptors in cosmetics
A few weeks ago we talked about the toxicity of household cleaning products in our bodies ( you can read it here ) and today we are here to talk about the health problems that affect women in particular (although the number of men has been increasing in recent years) due to the use of cosmetics and body care routines with commercial products (including some from pharmacies…yes, yes, you read that right), which although used in small quantities do not pose a great risk, the accumulation of them every day, every month of every year can pose a great risk of suffering from some disease caused by the chemical ingredients used to make our creams, make-up, perfumes, soaps, toothpaste, deodorants, etc.
The most common disruptors found in today's cosmetics are:
.-Parabens, used as preservatives… (ingredients that end with “…paraben” contain it, throw them away)
.-Phthalates, these are more difficult to recognize, but you can find them under these names or nomenclatures: dibutylphthalate (DBP), disobutylphthalate (DIBP) and diethylphthalate (DEP) .
.-Triclosan another preservative and antiseptics
.-Bisphenols, present in polycarbonate plastic containers or containers containing the symbol 7.
.-Titanium dioxide and zinc dioxide, these are found in sunscreens for example
.-Heavy metals, such as lead, mercury and/or arsenic ?
.-It is also important to avoid products with fragrance since this can hide a large amount of harmful chemicals, unless it specifies that it is made with pure essential oils.
These are just some examples of endocrine disruptors that you can find when reading the labels of your daily shower gel or face cream or… we advise you to look for products with ecological certification seals (Ecocert, for example) or non-toxic and free of artificial fragrances.
Benefits of using cosmetics without endocrine disruptors
