Eko products that you get used to right away

A few weeks ago, we published this post about eko products that require an adjustment period . We provided guidance and tips to make the adjustment easier . It's true that some products require several attempts before we find the optimal option.

But there are other eko products that are just the opposite . Once you try them, there's no turning back. They offer so many benefits and conveniences that you won't have any trouble getting used to them. Compared to conventional options, they're a landslide winner. Today we want to tell you about them.

REUSABLE CLOTH HANDKERCHIEFS

At Alma Eko we have two options, those from LastObject and those from Aletheia Artesanía .

In either case, the tissues included are made of organic cotton , which ensures that they're very soft and contain no bleach or chemicals that can harm our skin. TOP NOTCH FOR REUSABLE TISSUES!

Obviously, you don't generate waste because once you've used them, you wash them . This is the most powerful change, but we make it super easy for you. In both cases, you have a case that allows you to separate the clean tissues from the used ones. So, when you get home, you can throw the tissues in the dirty clothes basket and that's it. You'll wash them when it's their time.

If you use tissues often, we recommend stocking up on spares so you always have them ready. While some are meant to be washed, others are meant to be used.

They take up about the same space and weigh about the same as any pack of tissues . So there's no change in this regard.

NATURAL MOSQUITO REPELLENTS

They're simply wonderful. They're effective, safe for children and pets, they don't pollute, and they don't smell like shit. What more could we ask for?

At Alma Eko, you'll find two options: a candle, palo santo , and incense . In the case of the candle and incense, the main ingredient is citronella, a natural mosquito repellent.

You can also make your own homemade repellent with essential oils . Here's the recipe .

COMPOSTABLE CLOTHS

Why did it take me so long to switch to eko cloths ? I don't understand!

I had a belief that now seems silly, bordering on absurd. We tend to argue that the most sustainable thing is to use what we already have at home, but there are exceptions , and we think dishcloths are one of them.

Conventional cloths generate a lot of microplastics when you wash them, so the sooner you get rid of them, the better.

And if you've been using conventional cloths for years, you'll be amazed when you switch to compostable ones.

They have a tremendous absorbency (even if you've washed them countless times), you don't have to keep wringing them out under the tap to get rid of the dirt, and they don't deteriorate with washing at the speed that conventional cloths do.

And, of course, since they are biodegradable and compostable, if any microfibers are shed, they will not pollute the water.

They are perfect!

Reusable Makeup Remover Pads

They're a must-have for zero-waste living for people who wear makeup. It's a very small change with a huge impact.

If you switch to reusable pads , you'll significantly reduce your waste , especially if you wear makeup every day. You'll avoid all the polluting gases that come with the manufacturing, distribution, and waste management of pads.

But you'll also notice a big difference and benefits, both in your skin and in the usability of this item.

The pads you'll find at Alma Eko are all packaged in environmentally friendly packaging and made with high-quality raw materials obtained through sustainable processes . Those who have tried them generally tell us they're more effective than conventional pads, as they usually have a rough texture that helps remove makeup residue with less effort.

They are materials that are more respectful of your skin and if you combine them with natural makeup removers (such as coconut oil or Matarrania's cleansing lotion ), you have the perfect combination.

Once used, they can often be cleaned simply by applying hot, soapy water under the tap . Every so often, or if you use more resistant makeup, machine-wash them inside a mesh bag to protect them.

In our online store , we have a wide variety of models so you can choose the one that best suits your needs.

NATURAL SOAPS

Switching from conventional gels to natural soap bars is full of advantages.

Of course, the environmental ones: no chemicals, no plastic packaging, fewer polluting gases in their manufacture...

I admit that I was one of those who resisted it because I didn't like the texture I had of the bars of soap I used as a child left on my hands at all.

But of course, what do those soaps, which were still full of toxins, have to do with the natural options we have now? Nothing at all.

So it took me a while to give them a chance, and then I felt a bit silly because they are all advantages :

  • They last longer , so they are cheaper.
  • They leave my skin better (whether on my body, hands or face)
  • My favorites have smells that I love.
  • I find very specific options for each skin type (this is great when you want to give a handmade soap gem. You always get it right!)

NON-DISPOSABLE RAZOR BLADE

They'll allow you to avoid using conventional, disposable razors made of plastic . By buying one and reusing it for years , you'll save the planet a ton of polluting gases from manufacturing and distribution.

And, of course, they're used exactly the same as the other razors . Use it wet and slather it with a product that helps it glide (natural soaps are perfectly fine), run the razor over it, and that's it.

If you've never used a traditional razor before, you'll be amazed. You don't need to apply pressure ; just glide the blade over the area you want to shave. The razor's weight is enough to achieve a close shave.

Plus, it offers a high-quality shave with a single, included double-blade razor. A single blade is more than enough for an effective shave . Razors with multiple blades irritate the skin more.

And, of course, they are so durable that the initial investment is higher, yes, but over the years it becomes a saving for your pocket .

EAR SWABS

Another product whose sustainable replacement doesn't require any changes in use, so you'll get used to the first one while making a positive contribution to the planet.

At Alma Eko you will find two different options:

  • Disposable bamboo cotton swabs : These are just like the traditional ones, with a cotton tip (organic, of course), and the stick is made of bamboo, a compostable material. This is a great option if you have a compost bin at home.
  • LasObject Reusable Cotton Swab : It's plastic, yes, but it's reusable and more durable than the bamboo option. Plus, it's made in Europe, so the polluting gases from its distribution are lower. If you don't have a compost bin, this might be the most sustainable option for you.
