A few weeks ago we published this post about eko products that require an adaptation period to get used to them. We guided you with deadlines and gave you tips to make this adaptation easier . And it is true that some products require several opportunities until we find our optimal option.
But there are other eko products that are completely different . Once you try them, there is no turning back. They offer so many benefits and conveniences that you won't have to worry about them. Compared to conventional options, they are a clear winner. Today we want to tell you about them.
REUSABLE CLOTH HANDKERCHIEFS
At Alma Eko we have two options, those from LastObject and those from Aletheia Artesanía .
In either case, the tissues included are made of organic cotton , which ensures that they are very soft and do not contain bleaches or chemical components that can damage our skin. TOP POINT FOR REUSABLE TISSUES!
Obviously, you don't generate waste because once you use them, you wash them . This is the most powerful change, but we make it very easy for you. In both cases, you have a cover that allows you to separate the clean tissues from the used ones. So, when you get home, you can throw the tissues into the laundry basket to wash and that's it. You'll wash them when it's their turn.
If you use handkerchiefs often, we recommend that you get spares so that you always have them ready. While some are for washing, others are for using.
They take up and weigh about the same amount of space as any pack of disposable tissues . So there is no change in this regard.
NATURAL MOSQUITO REPELLENTS
They are simply amazing. They are effective, safe for children and pets, they do not pollute, and they do not smell bad. What more could we ask for?
At Alma Eko you will find two options, a candle, palo santo and incense . In the case of the candle and incense, their essential ingredient is citronella, a natural mosquito repellent.

COMPOSTABLE CLOTHES
Why did it take me so long to switch to eko cloths ? I don't understand!
I had a belief that now seems silly, bordering on barbaric. We tend to defend that the most sustainable thing is to use what we already have at home, but there are exceptions and we think that cloths are one of them.
Conventional cloths generate a lot of microplastics when you wash them, so the sooner you get rid of them, the better.
And if you have been using conventional cloths for many years, you will be amazed when you switch to compostable ones.
They have a tremendous absorbency capacity (even if you have washed them many times), you don't have to keep wringing them out under the tap to remove dirt and they don't deteriorate with washing at the same speed as conventional cloths.
And, of course, since they are biodegradable and compostable, if any microfibers come off, they do not contaminate the water.
They are perfect!
Reusable makeup remover pads
They are a must-have for zero waste lifestyles for people who wear makeup. It's a very small change with a very big impact.
Switching to reusable pads will significantly reduce waste , especially if you apply makeup on a daily basis. You will avoid all the polluting gases that come from the manufacturing, distribution and waste management of pads.
But you will also notice a big difference and benefits, both in the skin and in the usability of this object.
The pads you will find at Alma Eko are all packaged in environmentally friendly packaging and made from noble raw materials obtained through sustainable processes . In general, those who have tried them tell us that they are more effective than conventional ones, since they usually have a rough texture that helps to remove makeup residue with less effort.
They are materials that are more respectful to your skin and if you combine them with natural makeup removers (such as coconut oil or Matarrania cleansing lotion ), you have the perfect combination.
Once used, they can often be cleaned by simply applying hot water and soap under the tap . From time to time or if you use more resistant makeup, machine wash them in a mesh bag to protect them.

NATURAL SOAPS
Switching from conventional gels to natural soap bars is full of advantages.
Of course, the environmental ones: no chemicals, no plastic packaging, less polluting gases in their manufacture...
I admit that I was one of those who resisted because I didn't like the texture that the bars of soap I used as a child left on my hands at all.
But of course, what do those soaps, which were still full of toxins, have to do with the natural options we have today? Nothing at all.
So it took me a while to give them a chance, and then I felt a little silly because they are all advantages :
- They last longer , so they are cheaper.
- They leave my skin better (whether on my body, hands or face)
- My favorites have some smells that I love
- I find very specific options for each skin type (this is great when you want to give a handmade soap jewel. You always get it right!)
NON-DISPOSABLE RAZOR BLADE
They will allow you to avoid using conventional disposable razors made of plastic materials . By buying one and reusing it for years , you will save the planet a lot of polluting gases derived from manufacturing and distribution.
And, of course, they are used exactly the same as the others . Use it wet and cover yourself with some product that helps it slide (natural soaps are perfectly suitable), pass the razor over it and that's it.
If you've never used a traditional razor before, you'll be surprised. There's no pressure , just slide the razor over the area you want to shave. The weight of the razor is enough to get a close shave.
It also offers a high-quality shave with a single, dual-blade razor, which is included. A single blade is more than enough for an effective shave . Razors with multiple blades irritate the skin more.
And, of course, they are so durable that, the initial investment is higher, of course, but over the years it becomes a saving for your pocket .
EAR SWAB TIPS
Another product whose sustainable substitute does not require any change in use and, therefore, you will get used to the first one while making a gesture towards caring for the planet.
At Alma Eko you will find two different options:
- Disposable cotton and bamboo swabs : they are just like the traditional ones, with a cotton tip, of course, but organic, and the stick is made of bamboo, a compostable element. It is an interesting option if you have a compost bin at home.

LasObject Reusable Cotton Swab – It’s plastic, yes, but it’s reusable and more durable than the bamboo option. Plus, it’s made in Europe, so the polluting gases from its distribution are lower. If you don’t have a composter, this could be the most sustainable option for you.
