Are you also an Alma Eko?
Excitement! That's what we felt when we started the Alma Eko blog . It's been a couple of weeks since we launched our new website and, with it, we were clear that we wanted to start a blog with useful information for those who want to lead a more sustainable life .
WHAT YOU WILL FIND IN THIS BLOG
We have a lot of ideas that we want to share with you. In this blog you will find tips to lead a more sustainable life , both for beginners who want to start making changes to a plastic-free life, and for those who have already made enough progress but are not satisfied and want more. We will tell you how to take care of your natural products . and how to get the most out of them. We will resolve doubts about products that are sometimes controversial or of which there are many types and you don't know how to choose. We will also do reviews of brands and products so that you can know more precisely if it is something that fits your interests. And we will share recipes for very simple homemade natural remedies . You can find all this and more on Alma Eko's blog.
START AT THE BEGINNING
But first, we want to start from the beginning. Since the Alma Eko community has grown in recent weeks, we want to tell you how we got here , what our process was like, and let it serve as a letter of introduction to this project that we are in love with.
Alma Eko is made up of a group of people committed to caring for the environment, led by me, Estela . Today I want to tell you a part of my story.
MY FIRST STEPS
If you've made it this far, it's because the indiscriminate use of plastic worries you and you want to make changes in your consumption to be part of the solution. That's what happened to me. I started to become aware of the large amount of plastic I consumed every day and how harmful it is to our planet. But I didn't know what to do because plastic was everywhere. Obviously, in the supermarket and all its packaged products, but also in my children's toys, my pet care products, all kinds of utensils I used in the kitchen (containers, scouring pads, cloths...); also, almost all the cosmetics in the bathroom were packaged in plastic, even those whose components were natural and of ecological origin.
I had already made some changes in my life that I knew would help protect the environment, such as buying organic and locally grown food , making some homemade hygiene and cosmetic products , separating my waste so that it could be easily recycled or composted, etc. But it wasn't enough! There was still a lot of plastic in my life.
Little by little I started making more changes and finding alternatives. First I started with single-use plastics . They are the most visible, the most scandalous and, possibly, the easiest to change. In this way, for example, plastic shopping bags and non-reusable water bottles disappeared.
And I kept trying. I wanted to go one step further and get rid of those other products that, without being single-use, are packaged or made of some plastic element. That's how loofah sponges and scrubbers, solid soaps or reusable makeup remover pads came about. And not only that, I also switched to natural cosmetics, which allowed me to discover the great properties of ingredients such as shea butter, coconut or avocado oils and the power of essential oils or materials such as bamboo and white sage.
MY GREATEST COMMITMENT
Having freed my house from mostly plastic, I wanted to go one step further. To be part of the solution with an even greater commitment. That's why Alma Eko was born , to be able to share my discoveries with more people, inspire and spread them to more Almas Eko .
Are you one of them? If you are here, I'm sure you are. I'm delighted that we accompany each other and we all make this journey together . Don't hesitate to give us ideas, ask us any questions you may have, suggest topics to talk about or even solutions that you haven't found at Alma Eko.
Welcome Eko Souls!
