Why do you find this section in Alma Eko?

I am a mother of two children. When they came home, plastic consumption in the home skyrocketed. Diapers, packaged foods, toys that relatives insisted on giving away that were not only made of plastic, but were also wrapped in plastic… In addition, they made up the remains of household objects that we had not yet changed to more sustainable options, such as toothbrushes, sponges, hygiene products, everything made of plastic.

However, as they grew up, I realized that their ecological awareness is greater than that of adults. At home, we always wanted to make them see the importance of caring for the planet, but they always went further, making us consider some aspects that we had not realized.

Conclusion: Children are great allies and drivers of change towards a more sustainable life.

That's why we wanted Alma Eko to have a section just for them.

We put a lot of time and effort into offering you the best alternatives in our online store. We try to make the products as natural as possible, especially when they are going to be used by children. We try to ensure that they are as little exposed as possible to potential toxins and that their everyday materials are free of plastic.

But you know what? We've realized that the plastics industry is so powerful that it's practically impossible to escape it these days. We don't want to be part of their business, but sometimes we just can't find an alternative.

That is why we have first made it our mission to help you eliminate single-use plastics from your lives. They are the biggest problem.

We will continue to help you to free your home from plastics and to find better alternatives, but we want to be honest. Sometimes we are faced with products that contain a very small percentage of petroleum derivatives and we cannot find a better alternative. Sometimes, to protect a cosmetic, extend the durability of a product or provide stability to a fabric, there is no other alternative. In fact, we are convinced that there is one, but production costs would skyrocket so much that marketing would be unviable.

When we consider whether or not to include in our catalogue a product that, for example, contains part of the lid made of plastic, we stop to ask ourselves a few questions: Have we found a better alternative? Does the product have other qualities that make it worthwhile? Is this product better than its 'conventional' substitute? The decision is therefore made on its own.

Even so, we are always looking for better alternatives and we even want to make you a part of this change. We will be delighted if you send us any suggestions that you have found and that have worked for you. This is because we all do this thing of taking care of the planet.

Of course, we are committed to movements such as Zero Waste , Plastic Free , Low Waste or Low Plastic (the latter perhaps a bit more realistic). All of them committed to caring for the planet. We start from the perspective that resources are finite and it is in our hands to make responsible use of them and stop polluting the oceans with our garbage.
