Let's go with the data we like to give you so much. just about the plastic waste that should make our hair stand on end: today it is estimated that between 4.8 and 12.7 million tons of plastic end up in the seas and oceans every year and given the resistance of these materials to degradation, it is estimated that more than 150 million tons of plastic "flooding" our waters with the obvious problems and risks that this entails: harm to marine life, -evident degradation of the habitat, entanglement of marine species in drifting nets... , and exposure to chemical substances due to ingestion of these materials by them , etc.-, a problem that in turn affects human health through the food chain.
And the same is happening with the climate now that talking about climate change is so fashionable. Did you know that recycling one million tons of plastic saves the planet from the harmful CO2 ( carbon dioxide, the main cause of the "greenhouse effect") that would be emitted by one million cars driving on the planet's roads? But if you still don't think we should banish plastic from our way of life, let's talk about money, or rather, ECONOMY , because plastic waste in our seas and oceans has an added cost: this marine litter causes economic damage to the fishing and tourism sectors primarily, valued between 259 and 695 million euros.
